"What comes into our minds when we think about God
Statement of Faith
The following are the core beliefs of Lewis Lake Covenant Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
Deity of Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is true God and true man.

Man Created and Fallen
We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned, and thereby incurred physical death, and also spiritual death
which is separation from God.
Gen. 1:26; Gen. 2:17; Gen. 3:6; 6:5; Ps. 14:1-3; Rom. 3:10-19,
Rom. 3:23; Rom. 8:6-7
which is separation from God.

Rom. 3:23; Rom. 8:6-7
Atonement
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice; and all who believe on Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood.
Matt. 26:28; Jn. 1:29; Jn. 3:16-18; Rom. 3:24-26; Rom. 5:6-9; Eph. 1:7; Col. 1:20; I Pet. 3:18

Resurrection and Ascension
We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into heaven, and in His present life there
as High Priest and Advocate for us.
Jn. 20:20; Acts 1:9; I Cor. 15:3-8; Eph. 1:22-23; Heb. 1:3; Heb. 7:17; Heb. 7:25-26; Heb. 10:12; I Jn. 2:1

Salvation Only Through Christ
We believe that all those (and only those) who by faith* receive the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, are miraculously born again of the Holy Spirit, and thereby, without benefit of any human merit, religious rite or ceremony, partake of the Divine life and nature, and are sealed
by the Holy Spirit for time and eternity.
Jn. 1:12; 3:16-18; 3:36; Jn. 10:28; Eph. 1:13; Eph. 2:8-9; Eph. 4:30; I Pet. 1:18-19; 1 Pet. 1:23; I Jn. 5:13; Jude 1:24)
* Faith may here be defined as that trust in the God of the Scriptures and in Jesus Christ whom He hath sent, which receives Him as Saviour and Lord, and impels to loving obedience and good works. (Jn. 1:12; Jas. 2:14-26) Saving faith includes and implies that change of mind which is called repentance.

The Holy Spirit
We believe that, at the time of the new birth, the believer receives the Holy Spirit and by Him is baptized into the body of Christ; is forever indwelt by the Holy Spirit as guide and comforter; and if yielded to Him, is empowered for service.
Jn. 3:5; Jn. 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; I Cor. 6:19, I Cor. 12:13; Gal. 3:26-28; Gal. 5:16-17; Gal. 5;25; Titus 3:5; I Jn. 2:20; I Jn. 2;27

Spiritual Unity of Believers
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, the "Head of the Body, the Church," and having become members one of another, are under solemn duty to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, loving one another with a pure heart fervently.
Rom. 12:5; I Cor. 12:12-27; Eph. 4:3-10; Col. 1:18; Col. 3:14-15
Rom. 12:5; I Cor. 12:12-27; Eph. 4:3-10; Col. 1:18; Col. 3:14-15
The Ordinances
We believe that believer's baptism, according to the Scriptures, and the Lord's Supper are the only ordinances of the church and that they are a Scriptural means of testimony for the church in this age.
The ordinances contribute or impart nothing to saving grace.
We believe that baptism pictures the believer's death,
burial and resurrection with Christ.
We believe that, in the Lords Supper, the bread symbolizes the Body of Christ. When broken it is a picture of the broken body of Christ on the cross. The wine (grape juice) symbolizes the shed Blood of Christ. Only those who have received Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord
may be participants.
Matt. 26:26-30; Matt. 28:18-20; Rom. 6:3-5; I Cor. 11:23-26;

The Christian Walk and Service
We believe that we are called to walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit; that each believer is endowed with divine, enabling gifts for service; that we are divinely reckoned to be related to this world as pilgrims and witnesses, striving to make Christ known to all men.

The Blessed Hope
We believe in "that blessed hope," the personal and imminent return of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Jn. 14:2-3; Acts 1:9-11; I Thess. 4:13-18; Titus 2:11-14
The Evil One
We believe that Satan is a real being, a personal devil, the originator of sin; that he, the enemy of God, the "father of lies," the great deceiver of mankind, is the instigator of all false systems of religion, and that, with him, all persistent followers of such will find their end in the lake of fire.

The Eternal State
We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting
conscious punishment of the lost.
