“He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt” (v.26). Moses threw away being the king’s son so that he could find his identity with God and His people. That’s an amazing act of faith! As a man of faith, Moses wanted God more than he wanted the “fleeting pleasures of sin” (v.25) or the privileges and good times that came with being part of the royal household! Moses’ faith moved him to actually choose God over the things of this world.
I am really challenged by this. I enjoy the good things of this world as much as anybody, but when push comes to shove, and I am put in positions where I have to choose between doing fun things in life or pursuing God, which way do I go? Do I dare to be like Moses and give up the good stuff and chose instead to live in the “reproach of Christ” (v.26)? As I said, challenging!
Lord, help me to choose you this day when I am asked to choose!
