A most interesting man is this Jethro, the father-in-law of Moses. He is described as the “priest of Midian”. I am not sure exactly what that means, but evidently, he was connected to God and he was in the business of helping people to connect with him. As he hears from Moses all the great things that God has done over the Egyptians to save his people, he immediately understands the point. We are told that he rejoiced greatly over what God had done and he declares “Now I know that God is greater than all the other gods.” Now he probably knew that before, but having heard what God has done, he has had this truth reaffirmed in his heart once again.
Worship involves hearing about the great things God has done, and then responding to that with rejoicing and reaffirming the amazing things that we already knew were true about our great and wonderful God. May we look for way for new and fresh ways to hear about the great things that God has done. There are lots of ways to do this. World magazine, Decision magazine, testimonies from other Christians, denominational meetings, missionary connections and so forth and so on are all ways that you can hear about the great things that God is doing. And when you hear it, rejoice in it, delight in it, and let it move you to declare that God is the greatest, and worship him in new and fresh ways on Sunday, and everyday!
